Full Description:

My client is an established Motor Insurance Underwriter whose business is generated through a select number of UK intermediaries, focussing on high-quality and successful brokers. Their business specialises in the high premium sector of the UK private car market as well as small commercial vehicles, taxis and motor trade business.

They are currently seeking an experienced Underwriter to join them with the following experience:

- Ideally minimum 5yrs Insurer based experience (will also consider broker based CV's)

- Experience must be with Private Car, Commercial Vehicle, Taxi or Motor Trade products

- Experience of the various administration tasks (EDI reports, renewals, accounts reconciliation and auditing)

- Broad knowledge of the market

- Understands what a material fact is and the duty of disclosure

- Awareness of FSA, MID, ABI and Financial Ombudsman and the role each body plays within the Industry

- Experience with CUE (Claims and Underwriting Exchange) and handling non disclosures

- Letter writing skills

- Any Industry recognised qualifications e.g. CII

- A decision maker, someone who is comfortable with responsibility. People management skills would be good but not essential.

- Broker/Insurer liaison experience. Ability to build rapport and develop business relationships

- Good organisation and time management

- Understanding of basic statistics

- Driven and motivated to build a career within insurance

The hours are 9 to 5.30pm with one hour for lunch based in Tunbridge Wells, benefits will be covered upon interview but include Pension Scheme, Death in Service and Permanent Health Insurance, a flexible benefits package and during the six month probationary period the holiday entitlement is 11 days. There is parking at the office but this is subject to availability.
