Job Description

Our client a large insurance company are looking for an Assistant Financial Accountant to work in there new division in Reigate.

You will provide a flexible accounting and administration support service within the financial accounts area of the underwriting accounts team.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To assist in the production of financial information for the Board.

  2. To produce monthly Cash & Investment reporting.

  3. To issue reinsurance statements and make recoveries in accordance with credit terms agreed with reinsurers.

  4. To produce financial statements and other statutory returns required to meet legislation including FSA and IPT returns.

  5. To produce returns to Trade Organisations including the ABI and the Office for National Statistics.

  6. To complete the monthly reconciliation of the balance sheet to ensure transactions are correct & the Company’s assets & liabilities are not misstated.

  7. To complete various schedules, working papers and reconciliations as required by the Financial Accountant.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • €¢ Numeracy: Demonstrable accuracy and numerical skills, with the ability to detect inconsistent or erroneous data. Accuracy is paramount to the successful performance of this role.

  • €¢ Technical: A good understanding of the technical aspects of accounting. Must be CIMA/ACCA finalist. Specific accounting experience in a similar working environment.

  • €¢ Communication: Exhibits a good listening and questioning technique with the ability to maintain clear and accurate records. Ability to respect confidentiality and build / maintain good working relationships with both internal customers and colleagues.

  • €¢ Information Technology: Good PC keyboard skills. Excel experience is essential. Experience of using other Microsoft Office packages & Crystal Reports, JD Edwards is desirable.

  • €¢ Problem Solving: Ability to approach and solve problems in a logical manner with minimal guidance.

The successful candidates must come from an Insurance background
